23 fourth-grade students from Kosharnik neighbourhood in Montana spent memorable days in the summer school organized by ZOV Programme.
The children will soon be moved to the town schools where they’ll continue their education in the higher grades; in this respect, the extracurricular event organized during the summer holidays was very useful for them. The classes in Bulgarian language and Mathematics were interchanged with classes in physical education and games. Two thirds of the children took regular part in the extracurricular activities organized in Primary School “Georgi Benkovski.”
The girls and the boys visited the Fifth Secondary School “Hristo Botev,” the Seventh Secondary School “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” and the Eighth Secondary School “Otets Paisiy.” They felt comfortable in the classrooms that will be theirs in the next school year.
Owing to the lectures delivered in an engaging and accessible manner by the curators in the Regional Museum of History in Montana, the children learnt interesting facts about the historical past of their town. For the first time in their lives the majority of these students entered an ancient fortress, saw the collection of ancient carved stones, the ethnographic collection “Mihaylovata Kashta” and the Cave Ledenika. They will keep happy memories from their walk around Ogosta Dam, the games played in the Sunny garden and the delicious pizza they had for lunch.
The summer school finished with a party and the children received useful gifts: notebooks, learning aids, pencils and multicoloured markers.
